EMTs

Following is a general overview of the education, certification, experience and duties TransCare Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are expected to meet and provide. This list is not inclusive. Other requirements may be necessary.

Education

• 1 year certificate from college/technical school, or

• 3 to 6 months related experience/training, or

• Equivalent combination of education/experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Kentucky-licensed EMT-B

• BCLS (CPR) Provider

• National Registry Certification for Emergency Medicine

Experience

• Minimum 1 year as an EMT-B

Duties

• Provide basic assessment, transportation and treatment in accordance with licensure

• Communicate efficiently with Dispatchers to arrive at the correct location in a timely manner

• Assess patients accurately and communicate information as needed

• Transfer patients safely and effectively

• Continue patient care activities and assist in services provided by other professionals to deliver the most appropriate care

• Record patient information accurately
