TransCare Paramedics are part of a “tiered” emergency response system. They meet fire/EMS crews at the scene to provide advanced life support (ALS) services for patients.
When you dial 9-1-1 for a medical emergency, the local fire/EMS department is dispatched. The department's ambulance is generally staffed by EMTs who can provide basic medical assistance. TransCare Paramedics will also be dispatched if the:
Illness/injury
is life-threatening
Illness/injury
is unknown
Caller or local fire department/EMTs request Paramedic assistance
TransCare Paramedics drive cars that look similar to police vehicles—not ambulances. So when you see/hear them with lights and sirens on, please pull to the right so they can pass safely.

should I subscribe to TransCare’s emergency Paramedic services?
Do
not hesitate to dial 9-1-1
if
you think somebody needs emergency medical help. And definitely call for symptoms like:
Uncontrolled bleeding
Extensive burns
Confusion/disorientation
Unconsciousness
Difficulty breathing
Chest pain
Head/spinal injury
Poisoning
How
can I help Paramedics help a sick/injured person?
Make
sure your house, apartment or building number can be seen easily from the
street night or day
Especially
with apartments, send somebody to a main street to direct emergency vehicles
Keep
a current list of medications. Be sure to include:
name
strength/dosage
how
many
how
often
Tell Paramedics about any medication allergies
What medical skills can
Paramedics perform?
Paramedics ask a
series of questions to determine the patient's medical history and can perform skills such
as:
Start,
monitor and remove
IVs
Administer
medications
Monitor
cardiac (heart) rhythms
Perform
intubations—to open airways
Administer
manual defibrillation—to reset heart rhythm
What can I expect when receiving help from a TransCare
Paramedic?
You
can count on high-quality care from our Paramedics. They will ask questions and
examine you to assess what medical interventions may be necessary.
Why
should I subscribe to
TransCare’s emergency Paramedic services?
When
our neighbors need emergency medical help, TransCare Paramedics are there.
Whether you are a subscriber or not.
Because
subscribers can save money:
TransCare charges $720
for emergency Paramedic services
Insurance/Medicare may
pay a portion of the bill
Patients are
then responsible for the remainder of the unpaid bill…unless you are a
subscriber
Subscribers don’t owe TransCare any money—even if insurance
doesn’t cover the entire Paramedic services fee. (Ambulance transportation
charges are not included in this subscription program.)
Why
do TransCare Paramedics sometimes turn off the car's lights and sirens after I
have moved over for them?
TransCare’s Paramedics are disregarded if the situation does not require ALS services. So you may see a TransCare car that suddenly turns off its emergency warning equipment.
Please continue to pull to
the right when our cars approach with lights and sirens on. We may be responding
to an emergency call for your family or friends.
