Subscriptions
Providing emergency medical services is expensive—and the costs continue to rise. To offset rising expenses and save you money, TransCare offers an annual subscription for emergency Paramedic services. If you live, work or pass through the Northern Kentucky Area on a regular basis this subscription service could prove valuable to you.
Why subscribe?
Insurance companies and Medicare may pay a portion of the minimum $750 fee for emergency Paramedic services.
Then you are responsible for the remainder of the unpaid bill, potentially hundreds of dollars, unless you are a subscriber.
Subscribers pay no out-of-pocket expenses—even if insurance doesn’t cover the entire emergency Paramedic services fee. Ambulance transportation charges are not included in TransCare’s subscription program. Patients may receive a separate bill from the organization whose ambulance transported them to the hospital.
Subscription Options
TransCare offers individual/family subscriptions.

What is TransCare's Coverage Area?
My local fire/EMS department responds to emergencies. Why should I subscribe to TransCare?
Your local fire/EMS department may be part of a “tiered” emergency response system in which TransCare Paramedics meet your department at the scene to provide advanced life support (ALS). Patients are then billed for services provided by our Paramedics. Subscribers benefit because they don't owe TransCare any out-of-pocket money for these services.
If your local fire/EMS department is staffed by Paramedics,
you may still require help from TransCare Paramedics when you are away from
home. A subscription makes sense if you live/work anywhere in Northern Kentucky.
If I am not a subscriber, will TransCare still help me?
Absolutely! TransCare Paramedics are here to help our Northern Kentucky neighbors—24 hours per day, 7 days each week—whether you are a subscriber or not.
Who is covered by my subscription?
Only the individuals listed on your subscription application will not be responsible for fees related to emergency Paramedic services. For subscription information contact our Marketing Department by phone at (859) 392-2805 or by e-mail.
Don't my tax dollars pay for Paramedic services?
Unlike most Paramedic services, TransCare is a private, nonprofit organization that currently does not receive tax money. We rely on payments from insurance companies, Medicare/Medicaid and patients to continue providing critical services to our communities.
Doesn't my insurance pay for Paramedic services?
Insurance providers vary on what medical services they will cover. Contact your provider for details. However, many policies do not cover the entire fee for emergency Paramedic services. Or, you may be responsible for a deductible.
Why was I billed twice for an emergency call?
TransCare is part of a “tiered” emergency response system. Our Paramedics meet your local fire/EMS department at the emergency to provide advanced life support (ALS).
You and/or your insurance provider will receive a bill from TransCare for ALS services. You may also receive a bill from the fire/EMS department for transportation via ambulance to the hospital. The bills are for separate services and paid to separate agencies. You will not receive 2 bills from TransCare for the same emergency call.
Will my emergency Paramedic services subscription cover ambulance transportation charges?
No. Subscriptions only cover charges for emergency Paramedic services.
